Russell Slade made it two wins from two as Cardiff City manager as the Bluebirds saw off Ipswich Town by three goals to one at Cardiff City Stadium, our first home win over the Tractor Boys since 2005.
The home side didn’t get off to the best of starts as Daryl Murphy handed Mick McCarthy’s side the lead just after the half-hour, but Peter Whittingham levelled things in style five minutes later with a rocket, before a second half Federico Macheda strike and Adam le Fondre’s first goal for the club won it in the second half.
Team News:There was just the one change to Russell Slade’s Cardiff City line-up after the weekend win over Nottingham Forest, with a recovered Fábio returning at left-back in place of Joe Ralls. Matt Connolly made the bench after his injury absence. Federico Macheda, the striker who bagged the opener against Stuart Pearce’s Forest, was named in the starting eleven after overcoming the cramp which saw him substituted late on. Ravel Morrison remained absent, while Tom Adeyemi missed out after his brief substitute appearance against the Reds. Kenwyne Jones missed this one with a sore foot.
Mick McCarthy made two switches to the Ipswich Town side that drew 1-1 with Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, as Luke Chambers and Daryl Murphy came in for Tommy Smith and Stephen Hunt. Jonathan Parr and Tyrone Mings passed late fitness tests.
